Why You'll Love It?
Set in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, Chateau Gruaud-Larose is a second growth estate. The Gruaud Larose terroir is truly unique and blessed with a magical aspect. It is a single vineyard of 80 hectares of gravel-rich soil from the Gironde estuary, dating back from 700,000 years ago. It is positioned on the highest plateau of Saint-Julien – 18 metres high from sea level and is constantly exposed to the north and west winds, favour both soil and optimum maturity for grapes. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (8%) and Petit Verdot (2%). Fermented using pump-over in 60% concrete and 40% wooden tanks with malo-lactic in tank with the pomace after the post fermentation maceration. Aged 16 months in all French oak barrels (50% new).
